Data Analyst Intern - Business Intelligence (Summer 2019)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Analyst Intern will be responsible for projects supporting the Matco Tools sales organization. The Matco Tools sales team collects data from various sources.

The intern selected for this position will work with multiple applications (e. g. SQL, Microsoft Dynamics, CSV, and Excel) to integrate these data into our data warehouse and DOMO business intelligence platform. The intern will then work on a cross functional Matco Tools team to 1) analyze the data and develop insights into the team s KPIs and business processes and 2) create visual management tools to tell the story behind the data, which will be used to drive business decisions within the sales organization and other areas of the company.

Ideal candidates will possess a keen understanding of databases and finding meaning in large datasets, as well as a strong thirst for knowledge in the cloud computing world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defining and creating KPIs, data flows and reports based on data in support of business objectives for senior Sales leadership through integrating various data sources into DOMO
  • Create and develop custom reports and insight through intuitive data exploration and filtering. Develop analyses that identify patterns, influences, correlations, relationships, predictive factors, risk factors, and that provide better situational awareness
  • Proactively explore data to identify pain points and opportunities for the company.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Advanced experience working with Excel
  • Familiarity with SQL concepts and techniques
  • Familiarity with data visualization techniques and tools
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • 1+ semesters working with regional databases and programming courses
  • AA or higher in Information Systems, IT

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
